ISHI for Hypothyroidism

Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) is a thyroid disorder without the obvious symptoms of thyroid deficiency. Often a precursor to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (a chronic autoimmune disorder), CSH is characterized by elevated thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) despite normal serum thyroxin (T4) and occurs in 3-8% of the total population with a 3.6 – 7% higher prevalence in females.

The prescription medication, levothyroxine (“synthroid”), is a controversial medical treatment for SCH, and has practical application only when TSH levels exceed 10.0uIU/L. Thus, researchers inspired to look at complementary and alternative treatment protocols, chose Ashwagandha as a study candidate. Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb that is well known for its ability to increase feelings of vitality and alleviate anxiety and stress.

A 2017 Indian study was conducted with 50 participants (25 males, 25 females), aged 27-43, who had elevated serum thyroid stimulating hormone levels (4.5–10 micro-International Units/Liter) but who were not on thyroid medication. They received an 8-week supplementation of either 300 mg Ashwagandha root extract taken twice daily (n= 25) or a placebo of starch capsules (n= 25). Blood samples were drawn before and after the intervention to measure thyroid function.

After 8 weeks, those who supplemented with ashwaganda root extract had statistically significant changes in 3 measures of thyroid health:

Understanding your Ayurvedic menstrual cycle

Much of a woman’s life is lead and guided by hormonal cycles, from puberty all the way through to post-menopause. Maintaining a healthy cycle and hormonal balance will impact upon a woman’s whole body health, vitality, and general wellbeing.

We are all familiar with the term ‘PMT’ (also referred as PMS) or pre-menstrual tension; this is just one indicator of how a woman can feel when hormones become even slightly tipped out of balance.

For women to maintain a healthy hormonal balance determines a woman’s ability to endure a pain-free, hassle-free menstrual cycle, to conceive and give birth successfully and to experience a stress-free menopause. Essentially, it is vital to a woman’s core wellbeing.

In Ayurveda (the ancient Indian system of medicine), understanding your own personal health concerns is centred around recognising your ‘dosha’, or constitution. Think of your ‘dosha’ as being a little like your ‘health star sign’.Understanding your dosha will help you to understand how your body works and, therefore, how you can help it.

There are three core Ayurvedic dosha, vata, pitta and kapha. Put simply, we all have a little bit of all three, but there is often one that is more dominant. You’ll be able to recognise which one you might be as you  take our dosha quiz if you’re still left wondering:

Vata types are highly creative and are a whirlwind of ideas
Kapha types are your steady, strong and grounded individuals that often hold everything together
Your pitta types are fiery, passionate, competitive and determined

But, how does this relate back women’s health, specifically the menstrual cycle?

Well, interestingly, in Ayurveda, the menstrual cycle has its very own vata, pitta and kapha stage.

How can this help? Here’s how the Ayurvedic menstrual cycle works:• The vata phase lasts from approximately day 1-5 (from the first day of bleeding)• The kapha phase lasts From the end of bleeding until ovulation (approx. days 4-14)• The pitta phase lasts from ovulation until your period starts (days 14-18).

Where does ISHI. come in ?

The key ingredient in ISHI. ie Ashwagandha pacifies all three dosha extremities with ZERO side effects. This results in easing PMS/PMT symptoms. Thus Ashwagandha is known for helping fighting depression and anxiety associated with the psychological symptoms PCOS brings.

I purchased ishi to regulate my messed up hormones (and in consequence cycles), done some googling and found this is one of the best natural options as it is equal to estrogen. Chose it also because it can be taken during pregnancy and lactation as well, is won't need to stop when I'll have another kid. So I started with the recommended dosage of 2 tablets per day, but I must say, me being a very sensitive girl it was too much. Got my first results within a week, I can see the unwanted facial hair decreasing visibly and - alas - got an inner sweep too. So now I'll be taking only 1 tablet every 2 days. Remember, Ashwagandha is a very powerful herb and it's better to start with lesser dosage and see how your body takes it. Everybody is different, best would be to have dosage recommended by an ayurvedic doctor. In short - I can fully recommend the use of ishi for female hormone regulation as a better, healthier and most importantly natural alternative.

I’ve been having massive pimple outbursts since the last 3 years. I’ve tried multiple treatment methods, of which some worked out for a couple of weeks at the most before the next relapse. Been using Ishi and Smart Pill in combination for two months now and it reduced the pimple outburst within the first two weeks, and by now, my skin is absolutely clear with very minimal acne scars from before which are also fading. I also split the capsules and apply it on my face once a week.
