The phenomenal anti-inflammatory powers found in this immortal herb can help fight off any common respiratory issues such as frequent cough, cold, tonsilitis. Other than pesky cold and cough, it can also provide relief to asthmatic patients. While symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing make it difficult to treat asthma–giloy can help manage these symptoms better.
Reasearch articles published in the Indian Journal of Pharmacology and Iraninan Journal of Pharmacology studied that T. cordifolia – Giloy which is known as a medhya rasayana (learning and memory enhancer) in Ayurveda, also described to be useful for treatment of bhrama (Vertigo) in various Ayurvedic texts found Significant response in children with moderate degree of behavior disorders and mental deficit, along with improvement in IQ levels. The root of T. cordifolia is known to be used traditionally for its anti-stress activity. In a 21-day randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled study, the pure aqueous extract of the root was found to enhance verbal learning and logical memory. T. cordifolia has also been shown to enhance cognition (learning and memory) in normal rats and reverse cyclosporine-induced memory deficit.
A research paper published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health studied Effect of Tinospora cordifolia on physical and cardiovascular performance induced by physical stress in healthy human volunteers to find that it significantly reduced the mean heart rate over a period of 28 days

A research article published in NCIB demonstrated the anti-arthritic activity of Tinospora cordifolia extract (TCE) using the rat adjuvant-induced arthritis model of human RA and elaborated the immune mechanisms underlying this effect. TCE treatment suppressed arthritic inflammation and bone and cartilage damage. The anti-inflammatory effect of TCE was mediated via reduction of the pro-inflammatory cytokines such as: IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-17; the frequency of IL-17-producing T cells; and the production of chemokines such as RANTES. Furthermore, TCE treatment limited bone damage by shifting the balance of mediators of bone remodeling (e.g., receptor activator of nuclear factor-kB ligand [RANKL] and MMP-9) in favor of anti-osteoclastic activity.

antipyretic and analgesic activities
The present study suggests that powder form of C. pareira has moderate antipyretic activity in rats may be due to inhibition of the synthesis and/or release of local PGE2 into the preoptic area of anterior hypothalamus. Further, powder form of test drugs has shown better central analgesic effect in rats and extract of test drugs have shown significant effect through peripheral mechanism in mice. The results of the present study corroborate with the classical uses and traditional claims made on Patha, i.e. C. pareira and C. peltata for the management of fever and painful conditions.
